Movie Review of ‘I am Legend’

I am Legend was simply the worst movie I have ever paid to see in my entire life. The plot was awful, the acting was mediocre at best, it was completely unrealistic and the movie quite simply-should’ve never been made. It was a colossal waste of time and money and I really would like that hour and forty minutes of my life back.

My Lost Passport Update

A lot of you emailed me about my annoying lost passport situation I wrote about last week so I wanted to post an update. I reported my passport lost last Wednesday because I couldn’t afford to wait for UPS to hopefully find it because I needed a visa ASAP for Suriname. I did expedite my new passport. Literally as I was going to pick up my new passport at It’s easy, I got a call from UPS saying they miraculously found my passport and were going to deliver it to the Consulate in Miami. Of course I had already cancelled it so it is not even valid anymore.

UPS Lost My Passport
Last Monday, December 3rd, I sent out my passport with UPS, along with a $116 money order and my visa application to the Consulate General of Suriname in Miami. I was obviously applying for my Suriname visa for my upcoming trip there. This Tuesday, I called the Consulate asking why I hadn’t received back my passport and visa because I had overnighted the UPS package. They told me they never received my application which meant they never got the package. So then I called UPS with the tracking number of my package.
Bloomberg Article
In late October, I spoke at the Travelers Century Club International meeting in London. In attendance was some International media including Bloomberg. I was interviewed and today they released a story on the club and the meeting and I was mentioned along with several of my fellow Centurions. Click here to read the article and I will also put it under the Press Clips page as well.
Nokia Media Event Last Night
Last night I participated in a great media event for the new Nokia N95 phone at the top of Rockefeller Center which overlooks all of Manhattan. It was a first class event featuring media from all over. I did an on camera interview with Dow Jones and met with several print magazine editors including Budget Travel and Mens Journal. It was really exciting.

Review of American Gangster

Those of you that know me, know that I am a huge movie buff. I have an extensive DVD collection, am an Oscar historian and I watch a lot of movies. The problem I have noticed in recent years is that movies these days stink. I can’t even tell you how many times in the past few years I have gone to the movies, forked over $11.25 for my ticket, been really excited to see something and was then terribly disappointed. American Gangster is a movie I have been excited about for months now and I finally saw it last night. I have to say I have very mixed feelings about this movie.

Race to the Rock

This morning and afternoon I took part in a public relations event for a new phone from Nokia. The phone is the N95 and the event was arranged as a battle between extreme travelers from all over using the revolutionary GPS system on the new phone to do certain tasks like in the Amazing Race. The end of the race was at Rockefeller Center in New York City. It was a really fun experience and I look forward to the follow up media event on Wednesday evening to discuss the event, the phone and more importantly my website and travel adventures.

Issues With The United Nations

The United Nations (UN) is an international organization whose stated aims are to facilitate cooperation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress and human rights issues. The United Nations was founded in 1945 to replace the League of Nations, in the hope that it would intervene in conflicts between nations and thereby avoid war.

The Euro Difference
What a difference the Euro has made. I remember when I was living and studying in London and traveling around Europe in the late 90’s and 2000-01, thinking how cheap everything was for Americans. The dollar was strong and the old currencies like the Italian Lira, French Franc, Greek Drachma, Dutch Gilder and Spanish Peseta were all weak. While the British Pound was always strong, it wasn’t nearly as strong as it is today. I used to travel very carefree, spending like the money wasn’t real because everything you bought was at a steep discount with the exchange rates to the Dollar. One Christmas, I actually flew to Paris to buy all of my presents because I could get really nice stuff for really cheap even with the cost of the airline ticket. I couldn’t even fathom doing that now-this is the difference the Euro has made.

6 Years Later
6 years ago today was one of the worst days of my life and the worst day in the history of America. For everyone, but especially those of us who used to work in the World Trade Center or know anyone who passed away on September 11, 2001 today is always a difficult day to get through. For me, it is important to always remember my good friends and former colleagues who did die that day and be extremely thankful for those who are still with us including one of my best friends. To Sterg, Monique, my corporate development team and everyone else who passed away: you guys will always be in my thoughts and we will never forget.
