Like Visiting an Old Friend

The Author By Lee | December 26th, 2008 | Comments 4 Comments »

I was fortunate enough to have an eight hour layover today in Paris. It was my first time in Paris since December 2001 and my seventh time overall. It was like visiting an old friend because I know the city so well and although I haven’t seen it in a while-not much has changed and the relationship is still as strong as ever. It is always a pleasure going to Paris and hanging out in Saint Germain Des Pres and just strolling around the streets toward the Seine and the Eiffel Tower which looms so high above the great city. The weather was really cold though today (I didn’t bring many warm clothes) and made for sitting in the cafes along the city streets more enjoyable than normal to warm up with a baguette, hot chocolate and cappucino. I am now back in Charles De Gaulle airport waiting to board my flight to Nouakchott, Mauritania where the real adventure begins. Hopefully, I can get some sleep on this flight as I haven’t slept in about 30 hours…but who really needs sleep anyway-I’m off to somewhere in the world!
