Eight Years Later

Eight years ago today was one of the worst days of my life and the worst day in the history of America. For everyone, but especially for those of us who worked in the World Trade Center or knew anyone who passed away on September 11, 2001; today is always a difficult day to get through. For me, it is extremely important to always remember my good friends and countless former colleagues who did die that horrible morning and be extremely thankful for those who are still with us, including one of my best friends. To my man Sterg-I miss you brother, Monique, Billy, Lynn, my eSpeed/Cantor corporate development team, the incredibly brave FDNY, NYPD and everyone else who passed away: you guys are always in my thoughts and will never be forgotten-your spirit lives on forever and touches me each day. I can’t believe it’s been eight years.

   I was living in London on 9/11 and rolled out of bed late that day (time difference) and caught the second plane hitting live. I was not sure if it was real and what was going on. After watching more I got nervous. No lines were available to call in the northeast USA (NY, NJ) so none of my calls were going through for hours. You were working in that building and luckily in Texas that day. That is unbelievable to me because I thought you were there. That was divine intervention and you could write a book on that experience. Later in the day in London people were marching in the streets and the Brits were giving us, the americans a hard time over there b/c Blair was backing the fight and the people were against it. It was a profound experience.
