Sarah Palin Please Shut Up!

I hate writing or talking about religion and politics in general and especially in a public forum like my website. However, I woke up this morning, was reading the news on my blackberry and came across the dreaded political ticker on CNN. The ticker loves to mention Sarah Palin constantly and essentially the stupid things she does on her national tour where she simply criticizes everything and everyone Democratic without any recourse and without any viable alternative solutions. Today they published some excerpts from a recent speaking engagement she apparently did out in Long Island, which is pretty close to where I live in New York City. I glanced over it quickly then reread it because I was in slight disbelief at what I was reading. I couldn’t help but write about my thoughts on this woman who continually embarrasses me as an American.

First, this is not an endorsement of President Obama in any way, shape or form. I haven’t decided who I will vote for in 2012 and won’t do so until all the smoke has cleared and I evaluate the two or three final candidates. I take my constitutional right of voting very seriously and am an Independent voter although I admittedly lean toward the Democratic side. Especially the past 10 years or so throughout the brutal Bush administration and Sarah Palin does not sway me any other way.

Second, before I get into what she actually said at this apparent meeting of business leaders. I cannot get over that educated people and business leaders actually pay money to watch and listen to her speak. Do they really take her seriously? Are they just there to listen and laugh at what she says? I seriously cannot fathom ever giving her any sense of satisfaction that I paid to hear anything she has to say and here is why.

When asked about her 2012 Presidential ambitions, Palin responded, “I am still thinking of leading this country. I am still thinking about it. I haven’t made up my mind. We hired a chief of staff because Todd is getting tired of doing it for me.”

Is she serious?! She is still thinking about leading our country?! What planet does she live on? Last time I checked you had to be elected to become President and she wouldn’t stand a chance of being elected. Even the staunchest Republicans would run and hide. Plus, where does she get this ego? I have never seen a more arrogant statement in my whole life. One of the comments on the bottom of the actual article on CNN stated that she makes Baby Bush look humble and I have to agree whole heartedly with that comment and he was amongst the most arrogant fools I have ever listened to.

When asked who else she (Palin) might envision at the top of the GOP ticket Palin responded, “No one is more qualified to multi-tasking and doing all the things you need to do as a President than a woman.”

Again, is she f@#$ing kidding me?! Can you imagine if a man ever said that in the reverse manner? The whole wrath of the media and all types of women’s groups would be all over her. How does she simply get away with saying stuff like that or is that simply part of the reverse double standard that we must simply put up with?

She then began reciting from her resume, listing her experience as a mayor and running for Vice President and continued, “what I would look for in terms of character is someone who’s been on the front lines, who understands how to administer, how to lead a team, how to run a business.”

Hahahaha, her experience on the front lines?! She was the mayor of a town called Wasilla which is a completely insignificant little town outside of Anchorage that’s barely big enough to be considered a town. I know because I have been to Wasilla. Believe me, it is not much to brag about. Then she was a half term Governor where she quit! She quit midway through her term and really gave no viable reason. So how does she know how to lead anything let alone the United States! Also, she has never run a business, not even close. Her only current business is extorting money from naïve people who appear to be star struck because she is famous and go watch her speak.

Palin then criticized Michelle Obama saying, “No wonder Michelle Obama is telling people to breast feed their babies, because the price of milk is rising so high.” Why is she criticizing the first lady, does she want to be first lady? I don’t think old Todd would be fit to be President either. I mean can you imagine what must go through that guys mind. Criticizing the first lady is stupid by Palin especially when Michelle is much classier, better educated and certainly much more accomplished professionally than Palin ever was.

“We have to be sure a group like the Muslim Brotherhood isn’t invited in to take over,” she said. “The Muslim Brotherhood believes in sharia law.” She continued, “If they’re radical enough to have already spoken against liberties and freedom is this good for Egypt and their freedoms?”

This makes me giggle because you know that Sarah Palin never heard of the Muslim Brotherhood until the last week or so when she saw a headline about it someplace. She probably heard the term sharia law earlier that day from her new “campaign manager”. I would have loved to hear whoever brought it up ask some follow up questions, ala the Bush Doctrine disaster during the 2008 campaign.

Asked about a recent Gallup Poll indicating more than 50 percent of those surveyed have a negative opinion of her, Palin responded, “In a lot of those polls I get my butt kicked…the poll you’re referring to was taken after the Tucson tragedy. I don’t think I ever went through more negative press than after Tucson,” she said. “How else does the public know you except through the press? When the press reports things that have really misrepresented my record as a council member, mayor… and what you stand for and who your family is,” Palin continued, pointing to her reliance on Twitter and Facebook for public communications. “I can’t rely on a liberal-leaning press to do that for you. That’s why social media will be so important.”

OK let’s digest all of that nonsense that she spurted out there about polls etc. By the way, one of the comments on the original CNN story suggested she started her own social media site called “Quitter” which I thought was pretty clever and funny. Sarah got so much negative press after Tucson because she simply cannot keep her mouth shut and feels obligated to criticize any and everything. She doesn’t get that sometime it’s better to simply be quiet because nobody wants to hear her run her mouth. She also feels obligated to make everything political. I feel like all she does is refer to things as conservative, liberal, left leaning etc. Enough lady! Just shut up!

Lastly, I have never seen a political figure that is more of a lightning rod. Everything she says or does is covered by the media. Not just blogs and whatnot but mainstream media. She is a major media darling. As an educated person, I just assume it’s because she is good copy, says seemingly outrageous things and she keeps you reading because you cannot turn away from a train wreck. But then you think to yourself, “What kind of world do we live in that a woman like this actually has this much of an audience”. How does she get this much coverage? She doesn’t really have a chance to ever be President right?!

Common sense says no but we have lived through many crazy political disasters in the last decade or so. Minnesota elected a professional wrestler named “The Body”; California elected Arnold Schwarzenegger Governator; George Bush won re-election after lying to the world about Iraq, starting a war for no reason, having absolutely no idea what he’s doing amongst too many other follies to list; and sex scandals are a dime a dozen amongst politicians. I mean John Edwards lied and cheated on his wife while she was dealing with the cancer that would eventually kill her. What a guy and what a world we live in that he would probably still win if he re-ran for Senator.

But in my view, Sarah Palin dwarfs any of them in terms of folly but she seems to have some staying power for whatever reason. The media darling until she isn’t will continue going around and criticizing everything until as I anticipate, she will not run for President. She must be smarter than that as she knows that would be a gift for the Democrats. But she will continue to cash big checks from these speaking engagements so maybe in the end she is a lot smarter than we think…who knows.

OK I am so done talking about Sarah Palin!

  1. Well said!

  2. She is the worst person we have ever produced on the political scene.

  3. I saw the same article. The ticker always quotes her and always makes her look bad, not that she needs much help doing that. She really does seem to commentate on everything on twitter and facebook. I think your last paragraph summed it up well. SHe knows she cannot win anything but she is just trying to make as much $$$ as she can while she still has a forum to speak.

  4. The woman sickens me…I like your take on it.

  5. I take Sarah Palin about as seriously as I take the show CSI Miami both of which I find unintentionally hilarious. Unfortunately, there are people who take both her and that show seriously. I don’t think she is smarter than she seems, I think she is surrounded by smart people who are exploiting her, telling her what she wants to hear, and laughing all the way to the bank. I still stand by my nickname for her – Fluffy McDingbat.

  6. I love the nickname!

  7. Haha she is the absolute worst person on Earth I agree!

  8. I have another entry for the “101 Uses for Duct Tape.”

  9. Roger Jordan says

This has got to be the longest 15 minutes of fame bestowed on anyone, although I think Justin Bieber is a close second!

  10. Honestly, if you asked me about my opinion of the Bush doctrine I wouldn’t know what the hell you were trying to ask and I’m pretty opinionated when it comes to politics. No argument here, just showing the other side of the coin because it’s what I like to do:

So the Bush Doctrine? That could mean anything! is it Bush’s view on foreign policy? is it his personal world view? monetary policy? position on homeland security? views on taxation & business regulation? views on energy exploration? entitlement benefits? or views on personal liberties? ..Surely he didn’t mean “all of them”, as Charlie Gibson only had a 1 hr show. So, if ye ole Charlie had asked me that question, I would have looked at him like he was from beyond Mars.

  11. Hey Taryn…most people would have no idea but you aren’t running for President or VP where it is your job to know what it means and is. So she tried to turn the question into something else aka its all about jobs and the economy and came off looking ridiculous. Whatever…but just saying
