After years of talking about it, I am finally launching my first Group Trips in October 2025! My first group trips will be to the beautiful and historic North African countries of Algeria and Libya.

This is a special group tour to Algeria, organized and led by travel personality Lee Abbamonte.
The trip begins in the bustling capital of Algiers followed by a visit the dramatic ravine town of Constantine, along with the Roman sites at Djemila. We then head into the heart of the Sahara Desert and Tamanrasset, with its otherworldly landscapes, vast dunes and nomadic communities.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
Saturday, October 11
Algiers
Arrive in Algiers.
Transfer to Hotel.
Free time in the city and tour briefing. Overnight in Algiers at hotel.
Day 2
Sunday, October 12
Algiers – Djemila Ruins – Constantine
We leave Algiers for a four-hour drive to the spectacular roman ruins of Djemila, a city well adapted to its mountainous setting. This is one of the greatest sets of roman remains in North Africa.
We then travel on to Constantine.
Overnight in Constantine at hotel.
Day 3
Monday, October 13
Constantine – Algiers
A day tour of Constantine, a city set on a high plateau split by a dramatic ravine serviced by 7 bridges. The city offers myriad of spectacular views as well as its own history.
We then catch an evening flight back to Algiers.
Overnight in Algiers at hotel.
Day 4
Tuesday, October 14
Algiers – Tamanrasset
A full day walking tour from 0900 – 1700 in Algiers including the labyrinthine Kasbah and a chance to see some of the colonial buildings of Algiers. In the evening we transfer to airport and fly to Tamanrasset.
Overnight in Tamanrasset at simple hotel.
Day 5
Wednesday, October 15
Tamanrasset
We set off for Assekrem, following a breathtaking route through the ever-changing, moon-like landscapes of the Akarakar Plateau. Along the way, we’ll stop to visit the Afilal water guelta, a serene oasis amid the rugged terrain. After lunch, we continue to Assekrem, arriving in the late afternoon to witness a stunning sunset over the vast Hoggar mountain range-an unforgettable sight.
Overnight camping in basic tents.
Day 6
Thursday, October 16
Tamanrasset
Today, we set out to explore the scenic Tagmaret area before returning to Tamanrasset for a tour of the town, where you’ll have the chance to visit the local market and experience the daily life of the region. Afterwards, you’ll be transferred back to the hotel to relax and refresh before transferring to the airport for flight back to Algiers.
Day 7
Friday, October 17
Tamanrasset – Algiers
Early morning flight back to Algiers. (head to the airport the night previous)
Transfer to hotel.
Free time in Algiers.
Overnight in Algiers at hotel.
Day 8
Saturday, October 18
Algiers – End
Transfer to airport. End of trip.

General Information
Flights:
We do not directly arrange international flights to Algeria. We can suggest routes and operators.
Visas:
We will issue visa authorisation documents to guests ahead of travel so that they will be able to obtain visas from their local consulate/embassy.
Please contact us about which embassy you will apply at as processing times vary greatly.
Food:
Breakfast is included throughout the trip. Other meals or drinks in the cities are to be paid for by guests.
All meals in the desert are included.
Accommodation:
We do not and cannot offer a uniform accommodation standard on our itineraries. Even if we wanted to, the reality is that standards and costs vary across the region. We consider comfort, location, design, character, security, historical interest and whether the money we spend will go into the pockets of the local community when we make our choices of where to stay.
On this trip we will be staying in upgraded local hotels in the north and simply hotels or basic tents when you’re in the desert areas.
The trip is based on two people sharing. An optional single supplement is available upon request.
Transport:
When we choose our vehicles and drivers we take into consideration the road conditions, the length of journey and the competence of the man behind the wheel. Your comfort, enjoyment and safety of the journey is of top priority.
Guides:
You will be accompanied by Algerian English-speaking guides throughout the trip. The local guides may vary in between regions.
Insurance:
A valid travel insurance is compulsory in order to participate on any Untamed Borders trips.
Security:
Security escorts may be required in some areas of southern Algeria. We must state that the local team have the final word with regards to changes in the itinerary for safety reasons.
