India Group Trip; March 20-27

An 8-day trip to experience the magic of Northern India.

The adventure takes you to three of India’s vibrant cities, on a route affectionately known as “The Golden Triangle”, along with a detour off to see some of the country’s beautiful nature, which teems with wildlife.

The adventure begins in the capital Delhi, a city thronging with street life, markets and tasty food – with the remnants of empires past, sitting alongside the modern face of India.

We explore the historic streets of Old Delhi, take in the large memorial complex to Mahatma Ghandi and visit ancient architectural gems, along with the grandeur of Imperial Delhi.

We journey on south, to the famous “Pink City” – Jaipur, which holds its name due to the stunning pink architecture. It’s among the highlights of any visit to India, with grand palaces, ornate temples and colourful bazaars. It’s here we also have chance to experience a hands-on cooking experience in a local home, making our own Rajasthani classics, plus we have chance to potentially catch a Bollywood blockbuster, in one of the city’s grand old cinemas.

We then take a break from the bustling cities, heading off to the wilds of Ranthambore National Park, a place rich in remarkable wildlife. We drive through the area with conservation experts, on the look out for tigers, leopards and crocodiles – while taking in the beauty of an Indian sunrise or sunset.

From there we head north-east to one of India’s most iconic landmarks and attractions – the truly epic Taj Mahal, in Agra. The enormous mausoleum is one of the greatest examples of Mughal architecture, anywhere on earth, gaining it UNESCO World Heritage status. We take time exploring the vast site and also the nearby Agra Fort, with chance to visit a local marble workshop, to meet the craftsmen and women, who maintain these ancient gems.

The tour then concludes with one night back in the capital, Delhi. An 8-day trip showcasing the immense tapestry of history, culture, wildlife and unforgettable places, that India has to offer.
