I would say North Korea is the perfect destination to travel alone for the first time! 🙂 It’s something completely different from home (no matter where you’re from!), and you wouldn’t be by yourself anyway. You would be in a group and with guides. It would be completely safe and not much could go wrong. Not to mention how cool it would be to be able to say “North Korea was the first trip I took on my own” or “I haven’t traveled much at all, but I’ve been to North Korea.” I certainly wish I had thought of that. Instead my first alone trip abroad was to Paris (not very original, huh?), and I didn’t visit North Korea until 8 years later.
