My Upcoming Trip to Africa

So I am taking a trip to Africa for the 19th time! I leave Sunday for a 3 week trip around Southern Africa. I fly South African Airways to Cape Town via Johannesburg and arrive Monday afternoon. Cape Town is one of my favorite cities and one of the most beautiful cities in the world. This will be my fourth time in Cape Town and first since 2 summers ago when I was there for a few days bookending my trip to Angola and Cabinda, Sossuvlei and Swakopmund, Namibia.

I will also be spending some time around Johannesburg as I fly through Johannesburg a few times to the other Southern African nations. I am probably most excited to get back to Mozambique for the first time since I was there in 2004; my only time in Mozambique thus far.
Victoria Falls, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls Bridge, Livingstone, waterfall, Africa

I will also be revisiting Zambia and Zimbabwe around Victoria Falls for the fourth time but I will be doing it much differently this time and staying in very nice hotels and even taking a river boat down the Chobe River on the Zambezi Queen river safari. I will also be re-visiting new parts of Botswana and again, Namibia; which is one of my favorites.
Deadvlei, Sossusvlei, Namibia, Africa, big daddy sand dune, scenery, travel

All in all, it will be a 3 week, 6 country trip revisiting some of my favorite places and visiting new parts of each of those countries. There will be plenty of game drives, cool pictures and lots of animals! I am excited to stay at some really cool properties and see a part of Africa that I love in a new way.
Swakopmund, Swakop, Namibia, sand dunes, quad biking, four wheeling, adventure sports, Africa

  1. Soooo… any chance you need company? I make a mean Long Island and have tons of lame jokes to entertain you! Just say the word! 😉 *lucky duck*

  2. Sounds like an amazing trip….as always I am jealous.

  3. Victoria Falls is the best thing I have ever seen and that is a great picture Lee.

    • It is amazing and even after seeing it a lot, I cannot wait to see and HEAR it again!

    • Mamerito - TIM says

Hey Robert, when it comes to East Africa, visit the Murchison Falls aka Kabalega Falls located in Murchison Falls NP, Uganda.
The beautiful falls are located where the mighty Nile squeezes through a gap of only 7 metres wide and falls nearly 50 metres, before it then meanders towards Lake Albert. Chimpanzee trekking may be arranged at a forest some 37 miles from the falls on a day excursion trip.

  4. Sounds like an amazing trip! We were amazed by how much we loved Namibia. It’s such an interesting place and not what you’d expect to see in Africa. We’ve been to Africa twice and I can’t wait to go back at some point.

  5. Hi Lee,
was it difficult to get the visa for Angola? Did you need a sponsor?
    Thanks
    Michael

    • Michael, Angola was far and away the most difficult visa I have ever tried to get. It took me years or rejection and disappointment before I finally got it. I had a sponsor in the country-I finally bit the bullet and paid extra to go with a British run-Angolan tour company called Eco-Tur who helped me get the visa and took me around on my trip and also organized my trip to Cabinda, etc.

  6. Wow! That sounds incredible. I am also headed to Africa – but not until July and I’m doing East Africa this time, rather than Southern Africa. Can’t wait to get back for the 2nd time. When exactly are you headed back?
